FRAMEBRIDGE PROPRIETARY FILES
The FrameBridge modules (_runtime\videoengine.dll, _runtime\mxfhandler.dll), the
compatibility checker and the installation scripts are independently developed
compatibility software. End-user terms for these proprietary files are in
END_USER_LICENSE.txt. This notice supplements that license with technical and
third-party licensing information; it does not independently grant rights to
redistribute FrameBridge's proprietary binaries.
FrameBridge's proprietary code contains no code from FFmpeg, LAV Filters,
VSFilter/DirectVobSub, libass or Steinberg. Third-party components included in
the package remain governed exclusively by their own licenses, as described
below and in _runtime\ffmpeg\LICENSES.
STEINBERG FILES
No Steinberg DLL or EXE is distributed in this package. INSTALL.cmd temporarily
replaces Components\videoengine.dll in the customer's local Cubase/Nuendo
installation with the FrameBridge module and, where applicable, also replaces
Components\MXFHandler\mxfhandler.dll. Before replacement it saves each exact
original locally and binds its SHA-256 and host path in the installation state;
UNINSTALL.cmd verifies that state before restoring the original. For Cubase 8/9,
installation also makes verified local copies of the customer's existing
videodecode.exe, videooutput.exe and videopreload.exe beside that host's saved
engine, then removes its own copies on rollback. The customer's original helper
files stay in Components. No original Steinberg binaries are included in or
redistributed with the FrameBridge download.
At run time FrameBridge works alongside the preserved original engine of the
customer's installation. No Steinberg executable code is modified or patched.
THIRD-PARTY COMPONENT INCLUDED - FFmpeg (LGPL 2.1 or later)
_runtime\ffmpeg contains FFmpeg 9.0.2 as separate shared libraries
(avcodec-dsr-63.dll, avformat-dsr-63.dll, avutil-dsr-61.dll,
swscale-dsr-10.dll, swresample-dsr-7.dll). The libraries identify their license
as GNU Lesser General Public License version 2.1 or later. The complete LGPL
text is at _runtime\ffmpeg\LICENSES\COPYING.LGPLv2.1. Their embedded configure
data contains no --enable-gpl, --enable-version3 or --enable-nonfree option.
FFmpeg is a trademark of Fabrice Bellard, originator of the FFmpeg project.
- Source code: _runtime\ffmpeg\SOURCE contains ffmpeg-9.0.2.tar.xz, its detached
signature, the configure options recorded by the packaged DLLs, and a rebuild
script using the same feature and licensing options. BUILD.txt explains the
one build-step detail that cannot be confirmed from the retained artifacts.
FFmpeg source releases are also available from https://ffmpeg.org.
- Replacement: the libraries are loaded at run time from
<program folder>\_dsreader\ffmpeg. The user may replace them with compatible
shared libraries using the required file names and ABI.
- FrameBridge calls the public FFmpeg API and does not modify FFmpeg source.
- Nothing in END_USER_LICENSE.txt limits rights granted by LGPL 2.1 or later.
In particular, LGPL 2.1 section 6 rights to modify the work for the user's own
use and to reverse-engineer it for debugging those modifications are preserved
where needed to use modified or replaced FFmpeg libraries.
Additional third-party material used by the FFmpeg libraries:
- dav1d 1.5.4 (AV1 decoder) - BSD 2-Clause; LICENSES\dav1d-COPYING and
LICENSES\dav1d-PATENTS (Alliance for Open Media patent license).
- zlib 1.3.2 - zlib license; LICENSES\zlib-LICENSE.
- MinGW-w64 winpthreads - MIT-style license; LICENSES\winpthreads-COPYING.
- GCC runtime support code - GPL v3 with the GCC Runtime Library Exception 3.1;
LICENSES\gcc-COPYING.RUNTIME and LICENSES\gcc-COPYING3.
Codec patents are not covered by these copyright licenses. Use of patented
formats such as H.264 or HEVC may require patent licenses in some countries.
NOT USED / NOT INCLUDED
LAV Filters, K-Lite Codec Pack, VSFilter/DirectVobSub and libass are not used,
loaded or required. Subtitle rendering uses Windows system APIs (DirectWrite,
Direct2D and WIC); text in PGS/SUP and VobSub pictures is recognised with the
Windows system OCR API (Windows.Media.Ocr). No OCR engine or language data is
shipped in this package.

"Nuendo" are trademarks of their respective owner.
WARRANTY
FrameBridge warranty terms are stated in END_USER_LICENSE.txt. Mandatory rights
and remedies under applicable law are not excluded. Keep the complete package
so UNINSTALL.cmd and the included third-party notices remain available.
